a better future. Through the Microenterprise Development Program
(MED), the International Rescue Committee provides refugees seeking
to start businesses with opportunities for business training,
one-on-one business technical assistance, and assistance with
access to credit and capital. The Microenterprise Assistant will
work closely with the Microenterprise Development Coordinator to
support their strategic outreach plans, assist in creating business
and marketing plans, and access to banking and capital to grow or
start a business. Major Responsibilities: Responsibilities include,
but are not limited to: • Minimum of 10 – 20 hours per week: to be
completed during regular business hours, M-F 9 am –5pm; preference
to those who can be here for full day (9-5) shifts; • Preference
for candidates that can offer a 6-month commitment; the assistant
will become an integral part of our team and be trained/mentored on
several skill building responsibilities; • Builds awareness on
Small Business (SB) and Microenterprise programs around Wichita for
eligible potential clients; • Identifies and reaches out to Small
Businesses/potential clients by visiting, meeting, and
communicating with them (in-person and online); • Assists
Microenterprise Development Coordinator with the planning and
coordination of training sessions whether in person, or online; •
Identifies possible community partnerships and education
opportunities with local businesses and organizations; •
Participates in meetings with potential clients; • Flexible to
working some nights and weekends as necessary; • All other duties
and miscellaneous activities as assigned. Job Requirements:
Education: • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or working towards a
degree, but not required; Demonstrated Skills & Competencies: •
Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, culturally-diverse environment
with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate; •
Knowledge and enthusiasm for building relationships and event
planning within a non-profit setting; • Experience working with
refugees, asylees, high-risk populations, persons in crisis, and/or
diverse populations preferred; • Must possess the ability to
maintain confidentiality • Strong knowledge of social media sites;
• Excellent verbal and written skills; • Available for at least
10-20 hours during the weekdays (M-F) between 9am to 5pm for at
least 4-6 months; • Access to a safe working vehicle, and the
willingness to drive clients to various appointments and places.
Compensation: ( Pay Range: $18.00 - $18.00 ) Posted pay ranges
apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors
including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.

experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
